A short sleeve shirt is likely one of the garments that you are likely to wear the most. However, these garments can suffer some extensive wear due to improper care.

Properly Care For Shirts With Screen Printing On Them

It is common for shirts to have screen printing or other designs on them. This can make the shirts noticeable, but these prints will require some special care to keep them in good condition. One of the more basic steps that you can take to keep these designs safe is to turn the shirts inside out before washing them. Furthermore, the shirts should only be washed in cold water. If the shirts are washed in warm or hot water, it can break down the pigments in the print or cause the print to start to peel.

Be Mindful When Storing The Shirts

Hanging your shirts can be a surprisingly damaging way of storing them. For example, this can cause the collar to warp so that the shirt no longer fits you properly. Folding these shirts can prevent this damage, but it may cause wrinkles to form. A safe and space-efficient storage solution for shirts can be to actually roll them. This will dramatically reduce the space that storing the shirts will require while minimizing wrinkles and avoiding warping. When rolling the shirts, the sleeves should be folded across the chest of the shirt. Otherwise, the shoulder area of the shirts may develop noticeable wrinkles.

Avoid Harsh Detergent Products

Washing your shirts is one of the most routine types of work that you will have to do for these garments. However, using excessive amounts of detergent can actually be fairly damaging to your shirts. Too much detergent can be difficult to fully rinse out of the fabrics, which can cause accumulations of detergent to get stuck in the fabric. This will make the fabric stiff, and it may be abrasive enough to weaken the threading in the shirt. If your shirt is particularly dirty and you need to use additional detergent, you will want to use the heavy rinse setting on your washing machine to make sure all of the detergents are removed from the fabric of the shirt. In addition to using the correct amount of detergent, it can also be useful to avoid using detergents that contain bleach as this is a cleaning agent that is extremely harsh on the fabric and threading that make up your shirt.
